First Blessing Box Installed in Ellis

Since joining this community nearly three years ago, it's welcomed our family and continued to show that it's a place where people look out for each other. Continued work throughout the town will show you that people and organizations go out of their way to honor and preserve history while making improvements and upgrades consistent with today's world, all while maintaining the core values of Ellis, to be a welcoming place to visit and live.

The Ellis Alliance is proud to continue those values in the efforts of a newly installed Blessing Box, located directly in front of our office at 820 Washington Street.

As the first of it's kind in Ellis, the box will provide 24/7 access to shelf stable food and hygiene items to anyone who may need them at no cost. The box allows neighbors to drop off donations and the box is monitored by office staff, allowing for minimal waste and ensuring that items are rotated and shared with the local pantry in a timely manner.

Sometimes, it's the smallest items that can make the biggest differences. Small pantry staples that sit unused may now be the answer to a struggling families prayers.

This project was made possible through grant funding awarded from Midwest Energy. Dillon Kinderknecht of DK Builders was hired for the project and designed and installed the box, bringing the project to life.

The Blessing Box is a visual representation of what makes this community home. We invite everyone to help keep it a welcoming place, utilize it when you need to, leave what you are able to, respect the space and the amenities to maintain the spirit of kindness this project showcases.
